A chicken coop or hen house is a building where female chickens are kept. inside the chicken coop are dropping boards or litter a coop may have an outdoor run.. The primary functions of litter (or bedding) in a chicken coop are to make floor cleaning easier and to control odors and moisture; sand accomplishes all. My run is 10x10 and the best thing i ever did was to use sand very easy to clean with a cat litter scoop, run is completely covered so it doesn't get wet, they love.
